New diagnostic imaging equipment has diffused rapidly over the last couple of decades, raising a number of important questions for society. This seminar examines the role that economic incentives plays in diffusion of imaging technology, drawing on research on the effects of HMOs on imaging diffusion. The seminar will also present results of some new research looking at the extent to which changes in imaging availability affects use of procedures, and the extent to which these can be tied to changes in treatment patterns or (maybe) health.
