This teacher workshop is part of a year long series of events sponsored by the Consulate General of Japan, San Francisco, to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the first Japanese Embassy to the United States.

Talk by Mr. Frederik Schodt, Writer and Translator, "Native American in the Land of the Shogun: Ranald MacDonald and the Opening of Japan."
Talk by Gary Mukai, SPICE director, "Early Encounters: The First Japanese Embassy to the United States, 1860."
