Speaker
Jun Ma - Research Associate at the Stanford Prevention Research Center
Medical practice guidelines aim to guide physician practice according to the best available evidence. The data are mixed regarding the impact of practice
guidelines on physician prescribing. For this Research in Progress seminar, Dr. Jun Ma will present findings from an examination of nationally representative data of outpatient care. Using this data, she assessed the impact of JNC guidelines (the Joint National Committee on Prevention, Detection, Evaluation, and Treatment of High Blood Pressure) on the prescribing of anti-hypertensive medications by physicians in private practice and by hospital-based outpatient clinics.
This is a seed project for the Center on the Demography and Economics of Health and Aging.
