CISAC alumna Page Fortna receives 2010 Karl Deutsch Award

V. Page Fortna, an assistant professor of political science at Columbia, has been awarded the 2010 Karl Deutsch Award at the annual meeting of the International Studies Association in New Orleans Feb. 17-20.

Fortna, a post-doctoral fellow at CISAC in 1998-99, works on the durability of peace in the aftermath of both civil and interstate wars, longterm historical trends in war termination, democratization after civil wars, and the effect of terrorism in civil wars.

The Karl Deutsch Award is presented annually to a scholar in international relations under age 40, or within ten years of defending his or her dissertation, who is judged to have made, through a body of publications, the most significant contribution to the study of International Relations and Peace Research.
