CISAC staff member Hyde recognized as community treasure

Carole Hyde has supported CISAC programs as an administrative associate since 1990. She has also served the greater Stanford community by volunteering her time to animal welfare projects. In January the university recognized her contributions by naming her a community treasure. Hyde helped form the Stanford Cat Network to feed, care for, and neuter feral cats. The organization, which also finds adoptive homes for cats, reduced the stray cat population on campus from 500 to 50. Hyde now serves as president of the board for Palo Alto Humane Society. Her work there includes developing a K-12 curriculum that teachers can use to teach children about humane treatment of animals. At CISAC, Hyde supports the Project on Peace and Cooperation in the Asian-Pacific Region, led by CISAC's founding co-director John Lewis.
