CISAC Co-Founder Sidney Drell, a pioneer in the field of arms control, will receive the 2012 Public Service Award from the Federation of American Scientists. Drell is a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution and professor of theoretical physics (emeritus) at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, Stanford University.

The award is given to an outstanding statesman or public interest advocate who has made a distinctive contribution to public policy at the intersection of science and national security. Past recipients include Senator Edward M. Kennedy, Richard Garwin, Carl Sagan, and Phillip Morrison.
