More price spikes expected as extreme conditions become more common, says Lobell
FSE, FSI Stanford in the news: Reuters ReutersDownpours and heatwaves caused by climate change could disrupt food supplies from the fields to the supermarkets, raising the risk of more price spikes. In a recent Reuters article FSE fellow David Lobell comments on what to expect and what Stanford is doing to better understand these risks. As for the future, Lobell told Marketplace that most assessments put future prices significantly higher than they have been in the last decade or two.
