Study finds rising disability rates among the young related to increasing obesity rates
A study by CHP/PCOR core faculty member Jay Bhattacharya and colleagues at the RAND Corp., published in the January issue of Health Affairs, finds that disability rates have risen sharply among Americans under age 60 in the last two decades, and increasing obesity is the only factor that could explain such a large jump.
The study was covered the week of Jan. 12 by several national news organizations, including the Associated Press, Reuters, USA Today, CNN, the Los Angeles Times, ABC News, HealthDay and WebMD.
