The Europe Center is proud to have supported the publication of Nelly Sachs: Flight and Metamorphosis (Feb. 2012), a major work on the life and poetry of Nelly Sachs, and the cultural response to trauma, immigration, and memory.  Written by Aris Fioretos and published by Stanford University Press, this richly illustrated volume marks the first time that this Nobel Laureate's life story has been made available in English.  

In celebration of Nelly Sach's life and poetry, and inspired by the publication of this biography, The Europe Center is co-sponsoring the public workshop Nelly Sachs: Migration and Memory, Poetry and Context at Stanford on March 8th.  In addition to dramatic poetry readings and reception, this event will include a book signing by author Aris Fioretos (books will also be available for purchase.)
