Research Interests
the effects of insurance mandates on infertility treatment outcomes, particularly multiple-birth rates; fertility preservation and obstetric outcomes in recipients of donor oocytes; technical aspects of assisted reproductive technology such as in-vitro fertilization
Melinda Henne joined CHP/PCOR in July 2003 to participate in the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality Fellowship Training Program. Her current research examines the effects of insurance mandates on infertility treatment outcomes, particularly multiple-birth rates. She has presented the results of her findings at several national and international meetings and will soon be submitting manuscripts for publication. She is expanding the project to examine trends in multiple birth rates over time in areas of differing competition for infertility services. She has also conducted research in the areas of fertility preservation and obstetric outcomes in recipients of donor oocytes, and technical aspects of assisted reproductive technology.
Henne received a BA in government from Georgetown University and an MD from the Medical University of South Carolina. She completed a residency at Keesler Air Force Base Medical Center and was in practice for two years in the military before coming to Stanford in 2002 for fellowship training in reproductive endocrinology and infertility. She is currently working to complete an MS in health services research at Stanford. She continues to do clinical work in the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, and she is active in medical student and residency education through the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She will return to active duty Air Force service in July 2005.
