Dr. Bergen is an educational psychologist interested in faculty development, medical decision making, and program evaluation. Since 1987, she has directed an international program in medical decision making within the Stanford Faculty Development Program. Her associated research interest is in the patients' understanding of the techniques used for eliciting utilities for health states. Her career-long interest in methodology and program evaluation has led to collaboration with many medical education and research projects, consulting on curriculum, research design, instrument development, and data analysis. She is also interested in gender issues in medical education.
