Research Interests
design of interactive environments for authoring computer-based protocols and for representing complex patient descriptions in a manner that computer systems can interpret
Dr Musen's research concerns automated approaches to the administration of clinical protocol guidelines, for informing health-care workers when guidelines may be applicable, and for reporting when treatment decisions seem to deviate from the practice patterns that current guidelines prescribe. Additional research concentrates on the design of interactive environments for authoring computer-based protocols and for representing complex patient descriptions in a manner that computer systems can interpret.
