Michael Freedman is the editorial director at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Until January 2012, he was CISAC's public affairs manager and senior editor. Prior to joining CISAC, he was Asia and Latin America editor at Newsweek, where he directed regional coverage for overseas editions. He was previously Europe editor. In these roles, he wrote feature and opinion pieces for Newsweek and Newsweek.com, and commissioned and edited pieces by professional writers and some of the world's best known scholars and public figures. He also edited a regular sports column in collaboration with top athletes, including Martina Navratilova, Gary Player and Edwin Moses.
Before joining Newsweek in 2007, Freedman spent eight years at Forbes as a reporter, foreign correspondent and Europe bureau chief, where he covered international business and a broad range of political, legal and economic topics. He has reported from Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, and he has written for the digital and/or print editions of many other publications, including The Wall Street Journal and The Atlantic. A New York native, Freedman is a graduate of the University of Illinois (MSJ, 1996) and Emory University (BA, 1994). He is a member (term) of the Council on Foreign Relations.
