Colonel Viet Luong was a visiting scholar at CISAC for 2011-2012 representing the U.S. Army. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Southern California and a Master of Military Arts and Science from the Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth.
Viet has served in every level of infantry command and staff from platoon to brigade. He recently returned from a combat tour in Afghanistan, serving as the commander of the 6000-strong Task Force Rakkasan (3d Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division) in RC-East. His operational deployments include Haiti, Kosovo, Bosnia, Afghanistan and Iraq. As a battalion commander in the 82d Airborne Division, Viet also deployed to New Orleans in support of domestic operations during Hurricane Katrina.
