Our work examines the economic cost of drug-related violence on the day-to-day operation of businesses. We explore how violence has affected the factors of production, including labor and capital, and the extent to which individuals change their investment in human capital and labor supply as a result of the violence and/or other forms of victimization, including extortion and kidnaping.
