France and the Francophone WorldThe Europe Center Program
The France and the Francophone World program is dedicated to the study of historical and contemporary topics relevant both to metropolitan France and to its former colonies. We invite French, American, and international scholars to campus to participate in workshops and conferences with our own faculty and graduate students. Recent topics have included the history of human rights (18th - 20th c.), the comparative study of revolutions (17th c. - the present), and violence in Europe (20th c.). The Program seeks to offer a historical and cultural perspective on questions of contemporary relevance.
